"Friends!" Meng said happily, taking Arisa's hand hand shaking it. Her first day of middle school, and she already had a friend.
She blinked as she remembered something.
"Oh, I've gotta find my locker. I need to put away my lunch and my backpack."

She shook her head and called to the boys, "No thank you, Dad's angry enough when he has to come in for talks about Sokka's actions," she then added, "And the tutoring thing was just an idea. You don't have to be a genius or anything, just willing to spend sometime helping someone else instead of trying to blow up the principal."

"What's your locker number?" Arisa peeked at Meng's schedule. "Thirteen? That's only four away from mine. Come on, I'll show ya."

Meng followed Arisa to her new locker and put her things away. As Arisa led her to their first period class, Meng tried to start a conversation.
"So...what school did you go to before?"

Zuko bit his lip, a bad habit and he knew it. "Are you that intent on causing mischeif this year, because you keep thinking of ways to get out of it. And besides, kids are *not* cinchs. They are grinch's however, and moblins, not to mention gremlins. Evil I say." Zuko murmured to his friend, still biting his lip.

"I went to Hanajima Elementary School. I was going to go to Hanajima Middle School, but after a few....incidents at my old school, Hanajima didn't want me in their school system anymore," Arisa replied casually, ignoring Meng's expression. "My sister has been going to Daisuke High School and says the school system is better here anyway."

Meng was going to ask what Arisa meant by "incidents", but decided she didn't want to know. Maybe she'd ask later when they were closer friends.
She opened the door to their first class - English. The classroom was mostly empty except for a few students. Class wouldn't start for several minutes.
"So where should we sit?"

"Moblins? Zuk, is that even a word? And yes, I am that intent on causing trouble We only have two more years to teach Zhao how to play fair. Come on, it could be fun.

"The back next to the windows. My sister says that's the best place to sit. You can write notes, doodle, and stare out the window and the teacher will hardly ever notice."
Arisa made her way to the back of the classroom, closely followed by Meng. She plopped down into the chair and put her feet up on the desk. Meng sat in the desk directly to Arisa's right. Arisa looked out the window, which was to her left, to see what she could see. All that was visible was the soccer field.

"Fine, but when it backfires, you have to cover me." Zuko said, before sticking out his hand.

"You seem to really like your sister," Meng commented, pulling out her lavender notebook and matching pen.

"Deal," Sokka grinned, dragging Zuko by the back of his hoodie back toward Katara. "Alright. We'll do it! Where can we sign up?"

"Of course I do! She's the greatest!" Arisa said excitedly. "She's excellent at martial arts - she's almost a blackbelt! And she's teaching me everything she knows! She won't take insults from anyone and always fights to get what she wants. She's my hero and I'm gonna be just like her when I grow up!" She took her feet off her desk and struck a triumphant pose before settling back down in her chair.

Meng giggled. "Wow, that's great. I wish I had a sister. I live with my great-aunt, Wu."

"Aunt Wu? You mean that fortune teller lady I heard about?" Meng nodded. Arisa propped her feet on her desk again and leaned back in her chair. "That's weird. So do you have any psychic abilities or anything?"
