Just because I'm so terribly insecure about myself...someone tell me what they think of the opening of my musical? ---------------------------------------------------
Act I Scene I
Open at Poitiers Castle, a scene with a window and stair behind that. Enter Eleanor and Petronilla stage left.
Eleanor: pulling Petronilla’s hand Hurry, Petra! Grandmere is certainly right behind us.
Petronilla: Oh, Eleanor, you are wicked! What of our lessons?
Eleanor: They’ll keep, for now.
Grandmere: off-stage Eleanor! Petronilla! Where are you?
Eleanor: Up the stairs, hurry!
Both girls exit up the stairs behind the window as Grandmere enters from the left
Grandmere: Eleanor! Petronilla! You have lessons to attend to!
Enter Madame Catherine from stage right
Madame Catherine: Is something wrong, Madame?
Grandmere: Oh, Catherine, have you see Eleanor and Petronilla?
Madame Catherine: Oui, Madame. Just this morning, I saw them both studying out in the garden.
Grandmere: No, no, I mean recently.
Madame Catherine: Recently? I am afraid not.

Not bad - it's establishing the characters of Eleanor and Petronilla and it gets the audience's interest. But I'm a little confused about Catherine, who is she? (a servant, another lady of the house...)

She's a kind of a lady in waiting type of person.
